App development cost in India
Estimate the first useful release before the complete app roadmap. Request a quote against your actual requirements; no universal fee is assumed.

How to use this cost guide
Estimate the first useful release before the complete app roadmap. A useful proposal identifies the work, who supplies the inputs and the charges that continue after the initial delivery.
- RequirementsIdentify users, platforms and essential tasks.
- Features and integrationsDefine device features, backend systems and connectivity needs.
- Scope and estimateSeparate prototype, build, testing and release-support work.
- Ongoing costsIdentify maintenance and third-party charges separately.
Scope an app before selecting the platform
Essential journeys
Name what users must complete in the first release and which ideas can wait.
Backend dependencies
Identify login, notifications, payments, record permissions and external systems.
Release and upkeep
Budget for device testing, store preparation and the updates required after launch.
An example of two different scopes
A field-team app may need offline records and synchronisation even when it has only a few screens. A customer-information app may have more screens but fewer backend rules. User journeys, device features and operational dependencies matter more than the screen count alone.
This is an illustrative comparison, not a Tangensys price or client quote.
Prepare a brief that can be priced
- Describe representative users and their essential tasks.
- Identify connectivity constraints and required native features.
- Request separate prototype, build, release-support and maintenance scopes.
Confirm the total commitment
Ask for the one-off work, recurring service and third-party charges as separate lines. The agreed INR proposal and actual invoice terms should be clear before payment.
A lower initial fee may exclude writing, implementation or maintenance. Compare responsibility and sign-off checks before assuming two prices buy the same result.
Practical detail
A hypothetical total-cost calculation
These deliberately hypothetical amounts demonstrate how to compare a proposal. They are not Tangensys rates, market averages, exchange-rate conversions or a quote. Actual pricing follows the written scope.
| Cost layer | Illustrative arithmetic | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| One-off work | INR 100,000 | A small, clearly defined first release with device/backend sign-off |
| Three recurring periods | 3 × INR 5,000 | Agreed support; later features are not assumed |
| External charges | 3 × INR 2,000 | Only the included illustrative assumptions; actual provider/media charges require review. |
| Modelled total | INR 121,000 | Before taxes and any excluded media, licences or additional work. |
Compare the same period and responsibilities. Replace each assumption with the actual approved proposal; a lower headline setup price can omit work that another proposal includes.
Read the price through the scope
What changes the estimate
For an application, the main questions include user roles, supported platforms, backend and device requirements. Explain the current setup and desired result before comparing fees. Missing inputs may require a separate review or discovery task.
What the headline can omit
Distinguish a prototype and a supported production release. These commitments should not share an unexplained price label. Compare the same outputs and period, including any work your own team must complete.
What needs an owner
The proposal should identify testing, source scope, submission ownership and ongoing updates. A quoted deliverable is easier to judge when you know who supplies inputs, approves the result and maintains it.
A practical proposal comparison
Take two actual proposals and mark each cost as initial, recurring or external. List the included deliverables beside the number. If one option excludes essential implementation, add that responsibility to the comparison instead of assuming the lower headline is the total.
Then review the essential journey and failure cases on the agreed platforms. Keep taxes, licences, hosting, media and optional work visible where relevant. The hypothetical calculation elsewhere on this page teaches the method; it is not a published Tangensys rate.
Pricing follows the written scope. A preliminary discussion can identify whether the requirement is clear enough to quote or whether a diagnosis is needed first. No page length, platform or service label can establish the final effort alone.
Planning questions
More practical questions
What should we ask when two quotes look very different?
Ask each provider to identify the same deliverables, exclusions, inputs and recurring responsibilities. Separate advisory work from completed implementation. A useful comparison explains the difference instead of assuming the cheaper or more expensive figure is automatically better.
Does a cross-platform app remove all platform-specific cost?
No. Shared code may reduce some duplicated work, but native integrations, device testing and store preparation remain. We assess those dependencies before recommending Flutter, React Native or separate native builds.
Do you publish fixed packages?
No. We quote against the actual requirements and explain what is included, excluded and dependent on your team.
What is included in the quoted price?
Identify supported devices, login, notifications, payment, offline needs, data migration, testing and store preparation. The written quote specifies the deliverables and commercial terms.
When will we get a quote?
Within 2 working days after reviewing the requirement. Further discovery may be needed before a complex implementation can be fully scoped.
Does the price include ongoing work?
Only when explicitly stated. Maintenance, monthly campaigns and additional content are separately defined.
How do we get a useful estimate?
Share the current website or system, the goal, priority features or channels and any preferred deadline. We identify the scope and inputs needed to quote.
